Dear Sir,
My wife has received Gift as "Cash" from relatives (her brother"s son, My father"s brothers, her brother"s son) for repayment of housing loan and renovation of old flat. This cash was deposited in her bank account & loans were repaid. The total cash amount is about 9 Lakhs. Kindly advise on following: -
(1) Will the entire income as gift will be taxable, if shown in IT return for Fy 2016-2017.
(2) How to save tax on this.
