मान लेते हैं AB कोई दंड चुंबक है जिसका सिरा A उत्तरी ध्रुव और सिरा B दक्षिणी ध्रुव है। यदि चुंबक AB को बिंदु C पर काट दिया जाए, तो उसके दो टुकड़े AC और BC प्राप्त होते हैं। दोनों टुकड़े बिंदु C पर एक-दूसरे को आकर्षित नहीं करते हैं। दोनों टुकड़ों AC और BC में सिरों A, B व C पर कौन-कौन से ध्रुव बनेंगे?
