Question 7 If the wheel of a bicycle has a diameter of 60 cm , find how far a cyclist will have travelled after the wheel has rotated 100 times. In 1 rotation, wheel travels distance = Circumference Circumference of wheel Diameter = 60 cm Radius of wheel = r = 60/2 = 30 cm Circumference of wheel = 2𝜋r = 2 × 𝟐𝟐/𝟕 × 30 = 1320/7 = 44 × 4 = 188.571 cm Thus, in 1 rotation the wheel travels 188.571 cm So, In 100 rotations, wheel travels = 100 × 188.571 cm = 18,857.1 cm = 18857.1/100 m = 188.571 m
