- They decorated the walls of caves and rock shelters with paintings .
- They used pigments to decorate their bodies . Pigments are natural colours made from earth and minerals.
- The tool for this was a burin , also called an engraver .
Alongside this, they also developed symbolic communication - signs and marks that carried an agreed meaning.
