1. Made by humans
Artefacts, structures, art

Houses
Cave and rock art
2. Not made by humans
Fossils only
Example:
Bones
Preserved remains
Traces
- These clues are called archaeological evidence . They are of several kinds:
- Only the first group are artefacts . Bones and fossils are not artefacts, because humans did not make them.
