Suppose we want to divide

  (7x 2 + 14x) ÷ (x + 2)

We first factorise both of them separately

  7x 2 + 14x = 7 × x + x + 2 × 7 × x

Taking 7 & 𝑥 common

  = 7 x (x + 2)

  x + 2 = x + 2

Now, Dividing

  (7x 2   + 14x)/(x + 2) = (7x (x + 2))/((x + 2)) = 7x
