  • When limestone is heated, it absorbs heat (endothermic) and decomposes to form calcium oxide . This is indicated by an orange glow as the limestone is heated.
  • The formation of calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH) 2 , i.e, slaked lime, when water is added to lime (CaO), the reaction is exothermic
