Ex 3.2,9 Find x and y, if 2[โ 8(1&3@0&๐ฅ)] + [โ 8(๐ฆ&0@1&2)] = [โ 8(5&6@1&8)] Given that 2[โ 8(1&3@0&๐ฅ)] + [โ 8(๐ฆ&0@1&2)] = [โ 8(5&6@1&8)] [โ 8(1ร2&3ร2@0ร2&๐ฅร2)] + [โ 8(๐ฆ&0@1&2)] = [โ 8(5&6@1&8)] [โ 8(๐&๐@๐&๐๐)] + [โ 8(๐&๐@๐&๐)] = [โ 8(๐&๐@๐&๐)] [โ 8(2+๐ฆ&6+0@0+1&2๐ฅ+2)] = [โ 8(5&6@1&8)] [โ 8(๐+๐&๐@๐&๐๐+๐)] = [โ 8(๐&๐@๐&๐)] Since matrices are equal. Corresponding elements are equal Therefore, 2 + y = 5 2x + 2 = 8 Solving (1) 2 + y = 5 y = 5 โ 2 y = 3 Solving (2) 2x + 2 = 8 2x = 8 โ 2 2x = 6 x = ๐/๐ = 3 Hence, x = 3 & y = 3
