The structural formula of an ester is:

Write the structural formula of the acid and the alcohol from which it might be prepared. Name the process of formation of ester.

 

Answer

The given compound i.e. CH 3 COOC 4 H 9 is an ester and can be prepared by reaction of acetic acid with butanol . The reaction that takes place is given below
