Question 15 Three coins are tossed, and the number of heads is recorded. Which of the following lists is a sample space for this experiment? Why do the other lists fail to qualify as a sample space? {1, 2, 3} (ii) {0, 1, 2} (iii) {0, 1, 2, 3, 4} (iv) {0, 1, 2, 3} If we toss three coins, we could get 0 heads (all tails), one head, two heads, or three heads. Thus, our Sample Space is (iv) - {0, 1, 2, 3) We are asked Why do the other lists fail to qualify as a sample space? Let’s do this one by one List (i) fails because it leaves out 0 List (ii) fails because it leaves out 3 List (iii) fails because you physically cannot get 4 heads with only 3 coins.
