- Motion of an object along a straight line is called linear motion .
- Imagine a train between stations A and D.
- From A to B, it speeds up — speed keeps changing.
- From B to C, it moves at constant speed.
- From C to D, it slows down — speed keeps changing.
Two Types of Linear Motion
-
Uniform linear motion
The object moves in a straight line at constant speed .
The train is in uniform motion between B and C. -
Non-uniform linear motion
The object's speed keeps changing .
The train's motion between A and B, and C and D, is non-uniform.
