🔬 Activity 8.1 - Let Us Construct a Water Clock
Materials needed: Plastic bottle (½ litre or larger) with cap, drawing pin, water, ink (optional), watch.
Procedure:
- Take a transparent plastic bottle with its cap.
- Cut the bottle into two parts in the middle.
- Make a small hole in the cap using a drawing pin.
- Place the upper part inverted over the lower half.
- Fill the upper part with water and add a drop of ink to make it visible.
- Mark the water level after every one minute until it empties.
Observation: Each time the dripping water touches a mark, one more minute has passed.
Explanation: Water drips at a steady rate through the small hole. Equal time intervals show as equal level marks.
