Objective: Build a Ghatika-yantra-style water clock that sinks in close to 24 minutes.

Materials: Bowls of different sizes, a large vessel of water, a needle, a stopwatch.

Procedure:

  1. Make a small hole at the bottom of a bowl.
  2. Float it on water in a larger vessel.
  3. Time how long it takes to fill and sink.
  4. Try different bowl sizes and hole sizes till the time is close to 24 minutes.

What to observe: Smaller holes and larger bowls take longer to sink.
