Objective: Compare Olympic sprint winners' speeds.

Procedure:

  1. Look up timings of winners of the 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m races (men and women) from the last two Olympic Games.
  2. Calculate the speed for each event using Speed = Distance ÷ Time.
  3. Make a table of all speeds.
  4. Compare and find which event has the highest speed.

What to observe: The 100 m sprint usually has the highest speed, since runners can give maximum effort over a short distance.
