🔬 Activity 8.4 - Let Us Calculate Train Speeds
Procedure:
- Look up the railway timetable on the internet.
- Find a train stopping at the station nearest to your home.
- Note the next station's name and the distance to it.
- Note the departure and arrival times.
- Subtract to find the time taken between stations.
- Calculate speed as distance ÷ time.
- Repeat for 4–5 different trains (Passenger, Express, Superfast).
Observation: Different trains have different speeds. Superfast trains are usually the fastest.
Explanation: The train covering the most distance in unit time has the highest speed.
