Question 12 If zeroes of the quadratic polynomial 𝑎𝑥^2+𝑏𝑥+𝑐(𝑎,𝑐≠0) are equal, then (A) c and b must have opposite signs (B) 𝑐 and a must have opposite signs (C) c and b must have same signs (D) c and a must have same signsSince the zeroes are equal
D = 0
b2 − 4ac = 0
b2 = 4ac
𝑏^2/4 = ac
ac = 𝒃^𝟐/𝟒
Since square numbers are always positive,
𝒃^𝟐 is positive and 𝒃^𝟐/𝟒 will be positive
And, right side will also be positive
∴ ac > 0
Now, product ac is positive if both a and c will have the same sign
So, the correct answer is (d)
