Evaporation requires heat energy.

During evaporation, the liquid particles at the surface get heated and start vibrating at a greater amplitude. These particles move into a gaseous phase as the bond between them and the rest of the liquid breaks.

This reduces the average energy possessed by the liquid and thus causes a cooling effect.

Evaporation causes cooling as it utilises surrounding heat for the process-Teachoo-01.jpg
