Median of a Triangle (and its Properties) Centroid WHAT IS A MEDIAN? A median of a triangle connects a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side. A triangle has three medians They meet at a single point called the CENTROID. Centroid in Different types of Triangles Properties of Median CENTROID (Point of Concurrency) ◯ The medians always meet at the Centroid (G). G is the triangle's center of gravity.2:1 RATIO PROPERTY The centroid (G) divides each median in a 2:1 ratio. The distance from vertex to centroid is twice the distance from centroid to midpoint. IN SPECIAL TRIANGLES Isosceles Also median to the base is also an altitude and angle bisector. Equilateral All medians are also altitudes and angle bisectors.
