Which of the following hydrocarbons undergo addition reactions:

C 2 H 6 , C 3 H 8 , C 3 H 6 , C 2 H 2 and CH 4 .

  • Only the unsaturated hydrocarbons i.e. the hydrocarbons having double/triple bonds undergo addition reactions. 
  • Therefore, among the given examples, only C 3 H 6 (propene) and C 2 H 2 (ethyne) will undergo addition reactions.
