Example 16 Divide z (5๐‘ง^2 โ€“ 80) by 5z (z + 4) We first factorise z(ใ€–5๐‘งใ€—^2โˆ’ 80) = z(ใ€–5๐‘งใ€—^2โˆ’ (16 ร— 5)) Taking 5 common, = z ร— 5 (๐‘ง^2โˆ’ 16) = 5z (๐‘ง^2 โˆ’ 4^2) Using ๐‘Ž^2 โˆ’ ๐‘^2 = (a + b) (a โˆ’ b) Here ๐‘Ž= z and b = 4 = 5z (z + 4) (z โˆ’ 4) Dividing (๐‘ง (5๐‘ง^2 โˆ’ 80))/(5๐‘ง (๐‘ง + 4)) = (5๐‘ง (๐‘ง + 4) (๐‘ง โˆ’ 4))/(5๐‘ง (๐‘ง + 4)) = 5๐‘ง/5๐‘ง ร— ((๐‘ง + 4))/((๐‘ง + 4)) ร— (z โˆ’ 4) = 1 ร— 1 ร— (z โˆ’ 4) = (z โˆ’ 4)
