Let x = 0.666… Since only one digit repeats (there is bar over 6 only) Multiplying equation (1) by 101 i.e. 10 10x = 10 × (0.666…) 10x = 6.666… Doing (2) – (1) 10x – x = 6.666… – 0.666… Since both have same digits after decimal, we can cancel them 9x = 6 – 0 9x = 6 x = 6/9 x = 𝟐/𝟑 Thus, 𝟎.𝟔 ̅ = 𝟐/𝟑
