Absolute Value of a Rational Number Absolute value means how far the number is from 0 We represent absolute value of π‘₯ as |𝒙| So, we can write |βˆ’2|=2 |3|=3 |0|=0 |βˆ’201|=201 The absolute value of a rational number x is |x| And, it represents its distance from 0 on the number line. Thus, we can say that Absolute value is always non-negative That is |𝒙|β‰₯𝟎 Let’s do another example We can see |βˆ’2|=|2|=2 |βˆ’4|=|4|=4 |0|=0
