Question 1 Write a polynomial of degree 3 in the variable x, in which the coefficient of the x2 term is –7. Since we have a a polynomial of degree 3, it must look like ax3 + bx2 + cx + d Where a ≠ 0 Given that coefficient of the x2 term is –7 ∴ b = –7 We can assume any value of a, c, d – just a ≠ 0 So, an example of our required polynomial is 2x3 – 7x2 + 5x + 30
