Question 16 In the given figure, PA is a tangent from an external point P to a circle with centre O and diameter AB. If ∠POB = 115°, then measure of ∠APO is (A) 25° (B) 30° (C) 20° (D) 65°Since AB is a straight line By linear pair ∠ AOP + ∠ POB = 180° ∠ AOP + 115° = 180° ∠ AOP = 180° – 115° ∠ AOP = 65° Also, we know that Tangent is perpendicular to the radius, ∴ OA ⊥ AP So, ∠ PAO = 90° Now, in ∆ APO By angle sum property ∠ AOP + ∠ PAO + ∠ APO = 180° Putting values 65° + 90° + ∠ APO = 180° 155° + ∠ APO = 180° ∠ APO = 180° – 155° ∠ APO = 25° So, correct answer is (a)
