What are components of the transport system in human beings? What are their functions?
The 3 main components of the transport system in human beings are Heart, Blood and Blood Vessels.
Their functions are as follows:
: The main function of the heart is to
pump blood throughout the body
It supplies oxygen rich blood to the various parts of the body and deoxygenated blood to the lungs for purification.
2. Blood : Blood is a red colored fluid which helps in the transport of oxygen throughout the body.
It is red due to the presence of a pigment known as hemoglobin which has an ability to bind with oxygen.
3. Blood Vessels : These are tubular structures which carry blood in them .
These are present all over the body and are of three types: arteries, veins and capillaries.
