Ex 3.3, 6 Show that: (1/2+3/4)×8/3=1/2×8/3+3/4×8/3. To prove this, we solve the Left Hand Side (LHS) and Right Hand Side (RHS) separately and prove that they are equal Left Hand Side (LHS) (1/2+3/4)×8/3 By BODMAS, solving bracket first Since LCM of 2 & 4 is 4 =(1/2 ×2/2+3/4)×8/3 =(𝟐/𝟒+𝟑/𝟒)×𝟖/𝟑 =((2 + 3)/4)×8/3 =𝟓/𝟒×𝟖/𝟑 =(5 × 8)/(4 × 3) =(5 × 2)/(1 × 3) =𝟏𝟎/𝟑 Right Hand Side (RHS) 1/2×8/3+3/4×8/3 By BODMAS, doing multiplication first = (1 × 8)/(2 × 3)+(3 × 8)/(4 × 3) = (1 × 4)/(1 × 3)+(1 × 8)/(4 × 1) = 4/3+8/4 = 𝟒/𝟑+𝟐 = 4/3+2/1 = (4 × 1 + 2 × 3)/(3 × 1) = (4 + 6)/3 = 𝟏𝟎/𝟑 Since LHS = RHS Hence, the statement is true
