Question 10 Use the connection you found to find the coordinates of B given that M (โ7, 1) is the midpoint of A (3, โ 4) and B (x, y). Formula for finding mid-point is Mid-point of (x1, y1) & (x2, y2) = ((๐_๐ + ๐_๐)/๐,(๐_๐+๐_๐)/๐) Given that M (โ7, 1) is the midpoint of A (3, โ 4) and B (x, y) So, we can write Coordinates of M = ((๐ + ๐)/๐,(โ๐ + ๐)/๐) (โ7, 1) = ((๐ + ๐)/๐,(โ๐ + ๐)/๐) Comparing x and y coordinates Hence , x = โ17 , y = 6 Thus, coordinates of point B are (-17, 6) โ๐=(๐ + ๐)/๐ โ7 ร 2 = 3 + x โ14 = 3 + x โ14 โ 3 = x โ (14 + 3) = x โ17 = x x = โ17 ๐ = (โ4 + ๐ฆ)/2 1 ร 2 = โ4 + y 2 = โ4 + y 2 + 4 = y 6 = y y = 6 Hence , x = โ17 , y = 6 Thus, coordinates of point B are (-17, 6)
