Question 29 (B) Solve for x and y, graphically: 2𝒙 + π’š = 6; 𝒙 + π’š = 5Our equations are 2x + y = 6 …(1) x + y = 5 …(2) Let’s find points on the graph For Equation (1) 2x + y = 6 Putting x = 0 2(0) + y = 6 0 + y = 6 y = 6 So, x = 0, y = 6 is a solution i.e. (0, 6) is a solution Putting y = 0 2x + 0 = 6 2x = 6 x = 6/2 x = 3 So, x = 3, y = 0 is a solution i.e. (3, 0) is a solution For Equation (2) x + y = 5 Putting y = 0 x + 0 = 5 x = 5 So, x = 5, y = 0 is a solution i.e. (5, 0) is a solution 2x + y = 6 Putting x = 0 0 + y = 5 y = 5 So, x = 0, y = 5 is a solution i.e. (0, 5) is a solution We will plot both equations on the graph Therefore, Solution of the equations is (1, 4)
