I have been married to Charley for a few years now and I have always known him to be an intelligent man with an imaginative mind . However, his recent obsession with finding the Third Level has made me worried and concerned about his mental health . He claims that he has discovered a hidden platform at Grand Central Station that leads to the year 1894, where everything is peaceful and pleasant. He says that he wants to escape from the modern world , which is full of stress and fear, and live in the past, where he can be happy and free.
I love Charley very much, and I want him to be happy too. But I don't think that running away from reality is the solution. I think that he is suffering from some kind of psychological problem , maybe caused by his work pressure or the war news. I think that he needs professional help , not a fantasy world. I have tried to talk to him about this, but he refuses to listen. He insists that the Third Level is real, and that he has proof. He showed me some old stamps that he says he bought there, and a letter from his friend Sam who supposedly went there with him.
I don't know what to believe. Part of me wants to trust Charley and his story, because he is my husband and I love him. Part of me wants to believe that there is a place where we can be happy together, away from all the troubles of this world. But another part of me thinks that he is delusional and needs help. I don't want to lose him to his obsession, or to his fantasy. I want him to face reality and deal with it , like everyone else. I want him to be with me, in the present, not in the past.
I don't know what to do. I hope that Charley will come to his senses soon, and realize that the Third Level is not real. I hope that he will seek help and get better. I hope that we can find happiness in this world, not in another one.
