Insect eating plants are known as Insectivorous plants.

Example - Pitcher Plant

  • Pitcher or jug-like structures are the modified leaves.
  • The apex of the leaf forms a lid which opens and closes the mouth of the pitcher.
  • Inside the pitcher there are hairs when the pitcher closes the insect gets entangled into the hairs.
  • Insect is digested by the digestive juices secreted in the picher.
