  1. A- “A” is used when we are talking about things in general and not when we are talking about a specific person/thing. So, the correct word is “the”.
  2. Him- The pronoun ‘him’ is not used when we are talking about things related to a man (masculine gender). So, the correct word is “his”.
  3. By- “By” is used when two things are situated along with each other and not when they are above each other. So, the correct word is “on”.
  4. Are- “Are” is used when we are talking about someone in the present tense and not in the past tense. So, the correct word is “were”.
