How is the amount of urine produced regulated?

Answer

A nephron has tube-like structures called tubules which have capillaries wound around them.

  • In the tubule, all useful substances get reabsorbed whereas harmful substances (urea, unwanted salts, excess water ) remain in the tubule.
  • Hence tubular reabsorption of water in the tubule is used to regulate the amount of urine produced.
