Aerobic respiration is the one which takes place in the presence of oxygen. Here, glucose is completely broken down to yield energy and CO 2 and H 2 O are released.

  • While the breakdown of glucose into pyruvate also takes place in the cytoplasm (known as   glycolysis)
  • Pyruvate breaks down into CO 2 +H 2 O inside mitochondria .
