The smell of hot sizzling food reaches you several metres away, but to get the smell from cold food you have to go close

The temperature of hot food is more than cold food, the particles of matter surrounding the hot food would have more kinetic energy than the particles of matter surrounding cold food.
We know that, the higher the temperature of a substance, the more will be its kinetic energy, and hence the faster it will travel.
Hence, the smell of hot sizzling food reaches you several metres away, but to get the smell from cold food you have to go close.
