Question 12 (OR 1st question) If one root of the equation (k − 1)x2 − 10x + 3 = 0 is the reciprocal of the other, then the value of k is___________ Let one root of equation be α So, Other root = 1/𝛼 Now, we know that Product of roots = 𝑐/𝑎 𝛼 × 1/𝛼 = 3/((𝑘 − 1)) 1 = 3/((𝑘 − 1)) k – 1 = 3 k = 3 + 1 k = 4 ∴ Value of k is 4
