Question 10 If A (𝑚/3, 5) is the mid-point of the line segment joining the points Q (– 6, 7) and R (– 2, 3), then the value of m is (a) −12 (b) −4 (c) 12 (d) −6 Mid point of Q(−6, 7) & R(−2, 3) = ((𝑥_1 + 𝑥_2)/2, (𝑦_1 + 𝑦_2)/2) = ((−6 + (−2))/2, (7 + 3)/2) = ((−6 − 2)/2, 10/2) = ((−8)/2, 10/2) = (–4, 5) Comparing with A (𝑚/3, 5) –4 = 𝑚/3 –4 × 3 = m –12 = m m = –12 So, (a) is the correct answer
