Question 16 (OR 1st question) △PQR is right angled isosceles triangle, right angled at R. Find value of sin P. Given Δ PQR, right angled at R Also, Δ PQR is isosceles ∴ PR = RQ (Since hypotenuse is the longest side, it cannot be equal to any other side) And, we know that Angle opposite to equal sides of the triangle are equal ∴ ∠ P = ∠ Q Now, in Δ PQR Sum of angles = 180° ∠ P + ∠ Q + ∠ R = 180° ∠ P + ∠ P + ∠ R = 180° 2∠ P + 90° = 180° 2∠ P = 180° – 90° 2∠ P = 90° ∠ P = (90°)/2 ∠ P = 45° Now, sin P = sin 45° = 𝟏/√𝟐
