Went a step further by organising Special Gram Sabhas ( an extra Gram Sabha called for a particular issue ).
Took timely and appropriate action on issues of education, sanitation, and welfare of women and children .
Conducted Mahila Sabhas ( meetings of the women of the village ).
Ensured adequate quorum in Gram Sabhas.
Quorum means the minimum number of members needed to make the proceedings valid.
Marginalised sections took an active part.
These included Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women .
Marginalised means pushed to the edges of society, with less voice.
