  • Adolescence
    The stage of life between childhood and adulthood — usually from age 10 to 19.
  • Growth
    Increase in size and structure — growing taller, gaining weight, broader shoulders, stronger muscles.
  • Change
    Not just growth in size — but also internal (reproductive), emotional , and behavioural changes.

why it happens, and how to handle it with a sense of responsibility.

Discuss the changes you notice among classmates as they grow from Grades 5 to 8.

Steps

  1. Take a jar and some paper slips.
  2. Each student writes down the changes they notice in others — height, strength, behaviour, or any other aspect. Do not write names.
  3. Fold the slips and place them in the jar.
  4. Mix all slips, then unfold them one by one and discuss the changes as a class.

What were the most commonly observed changes? List them in Table 6.1.
