Question 3 - Page 170 Express the following lengths in centimeters: (i) 5 in (ii) 7.4 inWe know that 1 in = 2.54 cm (i) 5 in Now, 5 in = 5 × 2.54 cm = 5 × 254/100 = 1270/100 = 127/10 = 12.7 cm (ii) 7.4 in Now, 7.4 in = 7.4 × 2.54 cm = 74/10 × 254/100 = (74 × 254)/(10 × 100) = 18796/1000 = 18.796 cm
