Question 12 A recipe for the dish, halwa, for 4 people has the following ingredients in the given proportions — Rava: 40%, Sugar: 40%, and Ghee: 20%. (ii) If the total weight of the ingredients is 2 kg, how much rava, sugar and ghee are present?Given Total weight = 2kg We calculate the weight for each ingredient based on the percentages Since we have 40%, and 20% percentages, first we calculate 10% and then find percentage 10% of total 10% of total = 10% × 2 kg = 10/100 × 2 = 1/10 × 2 = 0.2 kg Quantity of Rava Since Rava is 40% of Total Quantity of Rava = 40% of total = 4 × 10% of total = 4 × 0.2 kg = 0.8 kg Quantity of Sugar Since Sugar is 40% of Total Quantity of Sugar = 40% of total = 0.8 kg Quantity of Ghee Since Ghee is 20% of Total Quantity of Ghee = 20% of total = 2 × 10% of total = 2 × 0.2 kg = 0.4 kg
