TaxesWhen we buy things (like bulbs, clothes, or food at a restaurant), we pay the price of the item plus a little extra. Price: The money for the shopkeeper. Tax: The extra money that goes to the Government to help build roads, schools, etc. Taxes are usually calculated as a percentage (%) of the price. In India, we often see GST. It is usually split into two parts: CGST: Central GST (goes to the Central Government). SGST: State GST (goes to the State Government). Let’s look at an actual bill example
