Question 2 Find the value of the following and also draw their bar models. (i) 25% of 160Now, 25% of 160 = 25% ร— 160 = ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ร— 160 = 1/4 ร— 160 = 40 Bar model looks like Question 2 Find the value of the following and also draw their bar models. (ii) 16% of 250Now, 16% of 250 = 16% ร— 250 = ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”/๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ร— 250 = 16/2 ร— 5 = 40 Bar model looks like To draw 16% of 250 perfectly, we need to think like a math detective! "The Math:" 16%=16/100. If we simplify that fraction (divide top and bottom by 4 ), we get ๐Ÿ’/๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“. This means we need a bar divided into 25 segments. We will shade/select ๐Ÿ’ of those segments to represent 16%. Thus, our bar model looks like Question 2 Find the value of the following and also draw their bar models. (iii) 62% of 360Now, 62% of 360 = 62% ร— 360 = 62/100 ร— 360 = 62/10 ร— 36 = 223.2 Bar model looks like Here is how to set up the tool for 62% of 360: The Math Logic 62% is the same as the fraction 62/100. If we simplify 62/100 by dividing both sides by 2 , we get 31/50. This means we need a bar cut into ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ pieces. 1 Segment =2% (because 100รท50=2) 31 Segments =62% (because 31 ร— 2=62) Question 2 Find the value of the following and also draw their bar models. (iv) 140% of 40Now, 140% of 40 = 140% ร— 40 = 140/100 ร— 40 = 14 ร— 4 = 56 Bar model looks like Question 2 Find the value of the following and also draw their bar models. (v) 1% of 1 hourNow, 1% of 1 hour = 1% ร— 1 hour = 1/100 ร— 1 hour = 0.01 hour Bar model looks like Here is how to set up the tool for 62% of 360: The Math Logic 1% is the same as the fraction 1/100. This means we need a bar cut into ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ pieces. 1 Segment =1% Question 2 Find the value of the following and also draw their bar models. (vi) 7% of 10 kgNow, 7% of 10 kg = 10% ร— 10 = 10/100 ร— 10 = 1 kg Bar model looks like The Math Logic 7% means 7 per 100(7/100). Since 7 is a prime number, we can't simplify this fraction like we did with 20% or 25%. To model this perfectly, we need a bar divided into ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ tiny segments!
