What are the limitations of the energy that can be obtained from the oceans?
The limitations of the energy that can be obtained from the oceans are
- There are very few sites around the world which are suitable for building tidal dams
- Cost of making dams and maintaining them is very high
- The high and low tides are unpredictable and are not uniform throughout the year.
- A temperature difference of 20 degree celsius or more between the surface water of the ocean and deeper water is needed for harnessing ocean thermal energy. This condition can not be met every time.
