How are deforestation and erosion associated with each other? Explain.

- Tree roots bind the soil , and leaves slow down rain and wind.
- When forests are cut, the soil is left bare and unprotected .
- Rain washes away the loose topsoil and wind blows it off — erosion increases.
- So deforestation speeds up erosion , causing loss of fertile land, silting of rivers, and more floods and landslides.
