Question 12 A car takes 2 hours to reach a destination, travelling at a speed of 60 km/h. How long will the car take if it travels at a speed of 80 km/h?Given that, It takes 2 hours to reach destination at speed of 60 km/h We need to find how much time would it take if speed is 80 km/h Let the Time taken be x hours We draw a table Now, as Speed increases Time taken will decreases So, Time and Speed are in Inverse Proportion So, we write numbers as 𝒙_𝟏 𝒚_𝟏 = 𝒙_𝟐 𝒚_𝟐 2 × 60 = 𝑥 × 80 (𝟐 × 𝟔𝟎)/𝟖𝟎 = 𝒙 (2 × 3)/4 = 𝑥 3/2 = 𝑥 𝑥=3/2 𝒙 = 1.5 So, it takes 1.5 hours to travel
