Question 6 Three workers can paint a fence in 4 days. If one more worker joins the team, how many days will it take them to finish the work? What are the assumptions you need to make?Given that, 3 workers complete a job in 4 days We need to find much time would it take if one more worker joins So, Total workers are now = 3 + 1 = 4 Let the Time taken be y days Now, we draw a table Now, As Number of workers increases, Time taken to complete the job will decrease So, they are in Inverse Proportion So, we write numbers as 𝒙_𝟏 𝒚_𝟏 = 𝒙_𝟐 𝒚_𝟐 3 × 4 = 4 × 𝑦 (3 × 4)/4=𝑦 3 = 𝑦 𝒚 = 3 So, work will be done in 3 days The other part of our question is What are the assumptions you need to make? To work this out, we must assume that We assume all the workers paint at the exact same speed.
