Example 2 (Page 63) Puneeth’s father went from Lucknow to Kanpur in 3 hours by riding his motorcycle at a speed of 30 km/h. If he takes a car instead and drives at 60 km/h, how long will it take him to reach Kanpur?Given that, He reaches Kanpur in 3 hours after riding at 30 km/h We need to find much time it takes if he drives at 60 km/h Let Time Taken be x Now, we draw a table Now, as Speed increases Time taken will decreases So, Time and Speed are in Inverse Proportion So, we write numbers as 𝒙_𝟏 𝒚_𝟏 = 𝒙_𝟐 𝒚_𝟐 3 × 30 = 𝑥 × 60 (3 × 30)/60=𝑥 3/2=𝑥 1.5 = 𝑥 𝒙 = 1.5 So, it will take 1.5 hours
