Question 6 The price of 1 kg of oranges is ₹56.50. What is the price of 2.250 kg of oranges? Can we write 56.50 as 56.5 and 2.250 as 2.25 and multiply? Will we get the same product? Why?First let us answer the second part of the question Can we write 56.50 as 56.5 and 2.250 as 2.25 and multiply? Will we get the same product? Why? Yes, we can write Because adding or removing zeros at the very end of a decimal does not change its value Thus, 56.50 = 56.5 2.250 = 2.25 Or 1.1000000 = 1.1 We remove the trailing zero after decimal point while calculating because it makes the calculation easier Now, let’s answer the first part of the question The price of 1 kg of oranges is ₹56.50. What is the price of 2.250 kg of oranges? Now, Price of 1 kg oranges = ₹ 56.50 Thus, Price of 2.250 kg of oranges = 56.50 × 2.250 = 56.5 × 2.25 = 565/10 ×225/100 = 565 × 225 ×𝟏/𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 = 127125 ×1/1000 = 127.125 Thus, the price is ₹127.125
