Question 4 Meenu bought 4 notebooks and 3 erasers. The cost of each book was ₹15.50 and each eraser was ₹2.75. How much did she spend in all?Let’s find cost of each Notebook Cost of 1 notebook = ₹ 15.50 Now, Cost of 4 notebooks = 4 × 15.50 = 4 × 1550/100 = 4 × 155/10 = 4 × 155 × 𝟏/𝟏𝟎 = 620 × 1/10 = ₹ 62 Eraser Cost of 1 eraser = ₹ 2.75 Now, Cost of 3 erasers = 3 × 2.75 = 3 × 275/100 = 3 × 275 × 𝟏/𝟏𝟎𝟎 = 825 × 1/100 = ₹ 8.25 Thus, Total amount spent = Cost of 4 notebooks + Cost of 3 erasers = 62 + 8.25 = 62 + 825/100 = (62 × 100 + 825)/100 = (𝟔𝟐𝟎𝟎 + 𝟖𝟐𝟓)/𝟏𝟎𝟎 = 7025/100 = ₹ 70.25
